چکیده
Aim of the present study is to investigate alterations brain networks derived from EEG analysis in pre- and post-sleep onset conditions after 40 h sleep deprivation (SD) compared normal 39 healthy subjects. Functional connectivity was made on electroencelographic (EEG) cortical sources current density small world (SW) index evaluated frequency bands (delta, theta, alpha, sigma beta). Comparing vs. a night SD significant decrease SW delta theta condition found together with an increase band. pre-sleep versus decreased beta band evidenced. Brain functional network architecture influenced by different ways. topology during wake resting state needs be further explored reveal SD-related changes order prevent possible negative effects behaviour function wakefulness. The modulations as revealed could used altered balance between integration segregation processes SD.

Enhanced brain small-worldness after sleep deprivation: a compensatory effect.
Sleep deprivation has a variable impact on extrinsic activities during multiple cognitive tasks, especially on mood and emotion processing. There is also a trait-like individual vulnerability or compensatory effect in cognition. Previous studies have elucidated the altered functional connectivity after sleep deprivation. However, it remains unclear whether the small-world properties of resting-...
متن کاملChanges in brain glycogen after sleep deprivation vary with genotype.
Sleep has been functionally implicated in brain energy homeostasis in that it could serve to replenish brain energy stores that become depleted while awake. Sleep deprivation (SD) should therefore lower brain glycogen content. We tested this hypothesis by sleep depriving mice of three inbred strains, i.e., AKR/J (AK), DBA/2J (D2), and C57BL/6J (B6), that differ greatly in their sleep regulation...

We investigated whether glucocorticoids [i.e., corticosterone (Cort) in rats] released during sleep deprivation (SD) affect regional brain glycogen stores in 34-day-old Long-Evans rats. Adrenalectomized (with Cort replacement; Adx+) and intact animals were sleep deprived for 6 h beginning at lights on and then immediately killed by microwave irradiation. Brain and liver glycogen and glucose and...
متن کاملAltered salience network connectivity predicts macronutrient intake after sleep deprivation
Although insufficient sleep is a well-recognized risk factor for overeating and weight gain, the neural mechanisms underlying increased caloric (particularly fat) intake after sleep deprivation remain unclear. Here we used resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging and examined brain connectivity changes associated with macronutrient intake after one night of total sleep deprivation (T...
